Preparatory meeting for My Hometown India-Japan Assembly [Japan + India]
SEEDS Asia visited Kyogoku Elementary School on the 20th of May, and Yosei Elementary School on 22nd of May, to organize preparatory meetings for My Hometown India-Japan Assembly themed climate change between children in Varansi City, India, and in Kyoto.
SEEDS Asia’s Technical Advisor Professor Ranko Kishida and Executive Director Mitsuko Otsuyama participated in the meeting with the support of Kyoto City Board of Education. Activities and preparations for the event were discussed. The event will take place on the 20th of November, 2024.
Opportunities for children to go overseas and experience cultural exchange are drastically decreasing as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic and declining value of Japanese yen. This could also lead to a decline in children’s interest in cultural understanding and/or global challenges.
SEEDS Asia are concerned about this tendency in declined interest in intercultural exchanges and aim at creating an opportunity for children in Kyoto and Varanasi, founded on the connection produced in the project implementation from 2016 to 2018.
We do hope that children will deepen their understanding of cultures and enhance their interest in global challenges through this activity and learn the necessity to cooperate with each other beyond borders.
