Bureau of Fire Prevention high schoolers’ contest [Philippines]
In the Philippines, March is observed as Fire Prevention Month. The Bureau of Fire Prevention (BFP) – Region VII Talisay City Fire Station organized the “Fire Prevention Month 2024 Poster Making, Photography & Spoken Word Poetry Contest” on March 11, 2024. Approximately 50 high school students from Talisay City, Cebu, participated in the event. SEEDS Asia had the honor of being invited to serve as a member of the Board of Judges for the contest.
This year’s theme for Fire Prevention Month is “Sa Pag-Iwas Sa Sunog: Hindi Ka Nag-iisa (Protect ourselves from the threat of fire: You are never alone in the endeavor of fire prevention.)”. The theme emphasizes the role of stakeholders in fire prevention, underlining that stakeholders can collaborate in making a safer and more secure community. In alignment with this message, contestants from high schools emphasized the significance of mutual assistance and fire prevention efforts.
We extend our sincere gratitude to BFP R7 Talisay City Fire Station for inviting us to participate in this event.
