Preparatory Meeting for “Youth Development in Disaster Risk Reduction through Cross-Learning Programs between High School Students in the Philippines and Japan” [Japan + Philippines]
On March 4th, Hyogo Prefectural Himeji Commercial High School from Japan and Inabanga North Central Integrated School in Bohol Island, the Philippines, engaged in an online learning exchange, introducing each other’s towns, disaster risks, and school activities. This exchange served as a preparatory meeting for the “Youth Development in Disaster Risk Reduction through Cross-Learning Programs between High School Students in the Philippines and Japan,” scheduled to commence in April 2024.
The project aims to foster effective responses by youth to disasters and instill a mindset conducive to recovery and reconstruction though facilitating a series of exchange programs for high school students between Japan and the Philippines.
Through five online exchange sessions from April, participants will enhance their understanding of and communication skills for disasters in both countries, culminating in face-to-face exchanges in Inabanga, Bohol Island, scheduled for this summer.
