DepEd Region VII’s SORA and Stakeholder Convergence [Philippines]
SEEDS Asia is deeply honored to have been invited to the State of the Region Address (SORA) 2024 by DepEd Tayo Region VII, held on January 31, 2024. During this event, we had the privilege of receiving a Certificate of Appreciation.
At the SORA, Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Office VII outlined several key targets it aims to achieve by 2025. One of these targets is to ensure that 60-70% of public school students understand what to do before, during, and after disasters. SEEDS Asia believes that disaster risk reduction (DRR) education activities, which involve fun games and hands-on experiences, can significantly contribute to learners’ understanding of precautionary measures. The strategy to integrate DRR education activities into the school curriculum will be cascaded as part of the JICA-funded “Project for Strengthening and Promoting School-based Disaster Risk Reduction in Central Visayas”.
