Capacity Building of DRRM Advocates on Session Guide, Slide Deck Preparation and Commemoration Activities [Philippines]
From November 5th to 7th, DepEd Tayo Region VII and SEEDS Asia held 3-day activities on disaster risk reduction (DRR) at DepEd EcoTech Center. Approximately 30 participants, including School Disaster Risk Reduction – Task Force (SDRR-TF), School Disaster Risk Reduction Trainer (SDRRT) members, and Division Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Coordinators, gathered for the event. The three-day program consisted of the following:
(1) Capacity Building:
– Lecture on the development of training programs in accordance with the rules by DepEd’s Human Resource Development Division.
– Lecture and workshop by SEEDS Asia on weather education and commemoration on past disasters.
(2) Meeting and preparation for Typhoon Yolanda Commemoration Event held on November 8.
(3) Discussion on the development of a school-based DRR training program, outlining the contents of the training.
Throughout the series of discussions and capacity building sessions, participants, including SDRRT members, had the opportunity to enhance their skills to further promote school-based DRR in Region 7. Additionally, individuals involved in previous projects and chiefs from various divisions of DepEd Regional Office VII gathered, leading to highly productive discussions for the development of school-based DRR training program.
