Visit to Naganuma district [Nagano/Japan]
SEEDS Asia is one of the implementing organizations of a disaster recovery program funded by JANPIA, and managed by Japan Platform. The project aims to support a community called “Naganuma” district in Nagano City, which was severely affected by the collapse of a levee along the Chikuma river due to torrential rains during the Typhoon Hagibis in 2019.
Owing to the COVID-19 outbreak, visits to the community from Kobe were not possible for a long time. However, with strict preventive measures, SEEDS Asia members were able to meet the people in Nagano from 9th to 11th September. It was observed that the Naganuma district is taking steps forward towards reconstruction and further community development. SEEDS Asia will assist Naganuma in identifying the best possible disaster recovery solutions, in partnership with different stakeholders along with the local people.
