Initial investigation of West Japan Torrential Rain [Japan]
We, SEEDS Asia, extend our sincerest condolences to those who lost their lives, and send our hearts to those of whom severely affected by the floods triggered by the torrential rain in western Japan.
At the moment, there have been 335 sediment-related disasters hitting Hyogo, 108 of which took place in Kobe where SEEDS Asia headquarters is located. On 10th July, SEEDS Asia members visited Shinohara Dai in Kobe City to investigate the situation in detail and assess the needs of the affected.
The evacuation order is still being issued in this area, which makes the governments unable to officially accept volunteers – yet the demand for manpower remains high to clear the mud.
The situation and needs of the affected are subject to change as time passes. Timely updates mainly about Kobe, or Hyogo, will be continuedly provided.
