On 4th to 5th June, along with Tamba City officials (City Promotion Division and Recovery Promotion Division) and residents, SEEDS Asia attended a field visit to Nagaoka City in Niigata.
Many communities affected by the 2004 Chuetsu Earthquake had encountered aging and decreasing population, which got worse due to the disaster. To deal with such a situation, there are various initiatives to sustain small communities by collaboration and communication with visitors from outside. This is what the Study Tour project in the Tamba City Promotion scheme aims at, so several field observations and talks with the locals took place.
