Bangladesh Talk [Bangladesh + Japan]
On April 13, an event called “Bangladesh Talk” was held at JICA Kansai, with the presence of the representative of SEEDS Asia Dhaka office. After the introduction about the country and the project, a discussion on “DRR and Media” was presented to the audience, which was joined by Ms. Suvendrini Kakuchi, an international journalist, and Mr. Takayuki Naganuma, Deputy Manager of News Department of Kobe Shimbun Newspaper.
The photo gallery named “Tell Us Your Story” is also being held until May 20 at JICA Kansai. Ms. Kakuchi mentioned that all the photos in the gallery present power/resilience of the people of Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Mr. Naganuma who had visited Dhaka last February shared a story that a visitor at the local photo contest asked about a photo that Mr. Naganuma had brought from Japan: a photo capturing an evacuation drill. This episode revealed that the local people were not familiar with evacuation drills, and that photos may impact the viewers by encouraging their interest to DRR.
