Capability Building Training on DRRE in Toledo City [Philippines]
March 13, 2018 – SEEDS Asia was invited as speakers in Toledo City during the 3 day “Capability Building Training on Disaster and Risk Reduction Education Integration and Management” as part of the sustainable initiative of SEEDS Asia’s project on DRRE. The training is a collaborative effort of DepEd (Department of Education) and City DRRM (Disaster Risk Reduction and Management) Office of Toledo City. On the first day, some of 21 DRRE Activities were discussed and shared to participants such as emergency bag preparation, emergency cooking, indigenous knowledge and family meeting. Evacuation drills and DRR Festival will be on second and third days. This training was participated by not just School heads and School DRR Coordinators and but also the Barangay council and Parents-Teachers Association composed of 9 clusters with a total of 200 or more participants. We were also privileged that the acting Mayor of Toledo City, Hon. Antonio Yapha Jr. came to witnessed the activity. A tap on the back to the previous core trainer CID (Curriculum Implementation Division) Chief of DepEd Toledo, Dr. Gemma Gay Alvez, Ms. Anna Liza Sardovia of DRRM Coordinator of DepEd Toledo City Division, and Mr. Alexander Dennis Abella of City DRRM Officer of Toledo for making the first day of training a successful one.
