Training of Trainers on DRR Education [Philippines]
February 6-9, 2018 – DepEd (Department of Education) Region 7 conducted a four day DRRE (DRR Education) Integration Training of Trainers (ToT) on DRR Education project of SEEDS Asia for 9 Divisions that are located across the Island of Cebu Province. This roll-out was done by the Region for sustainability and for the promotion of DRRE Integration for the whole Region. Participants coming from Negros Islands, particularly from Bayawan City Division, Bais City Division, Tanjay City Division, Guihulngan City Division, Dumaguete City Division and Negros Oriental Division attended the training. Other attendees came from Siquijor Province Division, Bohol Province Division and Tagbilaran City Division. These Divisions shall sustain the project in the next few months. There were 5 participants per Division which composed of CID (Curriculum and Instruction Division) Chief, Division DRR Coordinator, School Head, School DRRM (Disaster Risk Reduction and Management) Coordinator and a teacher of a pilot school. A total of 42 participants were in action to do the 21 DRRE Activities that made the training enjoyable. The active trainers of the said event were still the Core Team, including the Curriculum and Learning Management and Development (CLMD) chief of DepEd Region 7 Dr. Emiliano Elnar, CID Chiefs from the 10 Divisions of the whole Cebu Province, Mr. Besin, DRRM Coordinator of DepEd Danao City Division and Mr. Apor, Music teacher of Mandaue Comprehensive National High School. It was also remarkable that Councilor Hon. Reyes, the DRRM Officer of Danao City along with his whole team including Mr. Raymond Cascabel came all the way from Danao City in order to conduct a basic life support training. In the end, each Division signed the Job Embedded Learning contract where the trainees apply and further develop the knowledge, skills and attitude they gained from the training.
