January 5, 2018 – SEEDS Asia finally completed the last confirmation meeting that was conducted out of 10 school beneficiaries, in Tabunoc Central Elementary School of the City of Talisay. The meeting was hosted by Department of Education Talisay City Division with the assistance of Dr. Byrceles Daan, one of the core team member of the current project of SEEDS Asia and attended by twelve nominated teachers of Tabunoc Central Elementary School headed by their school principal Mr. Erwin Caparida, Local DRRM Chief of Talisay – Mr. Alvin Santillana, two representative from other schools that was surveyed during the SDRA (School Disaster Resilience Assessment) Survey last July 2017 which are Tanke Elementary School and Borromeo Brothers Elementary School and representative of Barangay Council -Mr. Romeo E. Bacaltos. Mr. Santillana acknowledged that the Local Government Unit (LGU) of the City of Talisay is always been in coordination with the Barangay and schools in achieving school resilience knowing that the pilot school is located in a flood prone area. The teachers in Tabunoc Central Elementary School also appreciated the plan of LGU to provide water filtration system to ten schools in the city this year. The meeting ended with the confirmation and acceptance of the nominated teachers who are excited and prepared to commit to the project.
