5 housing groups were chosen as climate school associated societies, called Citizen Forums(CF) to enhance community based DRR activities with schools. Now we start hearing many updates from Varanasi on thier initiatives to make society resilient after the project launched! Let us introduce some of them here…!!
Rajeev Nagar Society which is an associate society of one of the climate schools, Central Hindu Boys School established women’s association as key group to take care of safety and DRR in the society.
A Citizen forum, Rajeev Nagar Society which is an associated with one of the climate schools, Central Hindu Boys School organised a water conservation awareness campaign on 5th December with the partnership with media. School teachers also came to the area and joined the activity!
Sarai Mohana village which is an associate society of Rajghat Besant School repaired a road where people are used to be trapped and injured especially during the flood by the contribution of small fund from each of the residential. Garbage used to be accumulated in the hollow, and always causing flood in rainy season. Now no more flood or injuries from here!
Sarai Mohana village organised an awareness and training session among the village. Trained DRR leaders disseminated the knowledge and skills to the other villagers almost 300 villagers!
