DRR Class Observation in Promotion School [Philippines]
On March 1, DRR class observation was conducted at the Talavera Elementary School in Toledo City and the Balirong Elementary School in Naga City, which is DRRE promotion school. There is no curriculum of DRR Education in the Philippines, so we integrate DRRE into existing basic curriculum in order to realize DRRE. The DRR integration classes on the same day were two subjects: English and Mathematics. Students who were nervous at the beginning of a sudden visit, however they gradually become active and able to participate in the class by participatory and practical DRR classes. It was a very valuable visit that we were able to see the motivation not only for students but also teachers for DRRE, such as preparation of lesson plans and creating teaching materials to be used for classes.
