Research Visit to Owase city
SEEDS Asia staff members visited Owase City, Mie Prefecture on 7th May, 2013, and had briefings and discussed with the staff from Risk Management Division and Board of Education of the city government relating to thier policies and practices on tsunami DRR. Owase City is facing the Pacific Ocean and near Nankai Trench, which causes earthquake and tsunami risks. They are reconsidering thier policies for better countermeasures towards such natural hazards, based on the lessons learned from the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. A possible exchange activity with SEEDS Asia’s counterpart in Kesennuma was discussed.
