The committees for the community-based disaster risk reduction [India]
The committees for the community-based disaster risk reduction (DRR) have been formed in five project target areas in order to promote the community’s involvement into the disaster risk management in their residential area. Today, its executive committee meeting was organized at the Adampur area, the most flood affected area in the five areas.
The situations of people’s daily lives affected by the floods was explained to the executive committee by the Adampur DRR committee on the spot where dwellers were mostly fishermen. Based on their observations, the executive committee members discussed various issues, including not only DRR but also social economic development in this area. The community people also actively participated in the discussions.
