On 16 May, two staff members of SEEDS Asia arrived at Kumamoto and launched initial investigation in affected municipalities of Kumamoto Earthquake. The investigators had a hearing about current situation of evacuation centers in Kumamoto city and Mashiki town, then observed damages in the city and town.

SEEDS Asia has been conducting activities in Asia Pacific Region; India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Philippines, Myanmar, and Tohoku (Japan) where happened big disasters.
