Study Meeting for Trainer-Teachers [Vietnam]
From the end of this July to the beginning of August, last TOT (Training of Trainers) will be held. Target for this TOT will be 282 educational staff (1 vice-principal, 1 teacher) from 141 schools in Danag-city. Yesterday, a study meeting for trainer-teachers in preparation for the TOT was carried out. It was participated by a total of 50 educational staff from Bureau of Education and Training (BOET) and 7 DRR (Disaster Risk Reduction) core schools, including 4 qualified trainer-teachers. At the past 3 TOT for educational staff of the 7 DRR core schools, Quang Nam province and Hue province, 10 DRR programs were developed. However, reducing the number of implemented programs was requested because TOT will be conducted during summer holidays. Finally, 7 or 8 programs were selected depending on each school’s situation. As specific aspect in this meeting, BOET staff didn’t join teacher’s group, but reviewed the outputs of SEEDS Asia’s project and discussed the concept of DRR including World Climate Change. This meeting showed positive attitudes of teachers and BOET officials. For example, teacher’s autonomous selection of programs and BOET’s individual measure for DRR education from administrative side. Next study meeting will be held on July 16.
