Student’s Positive activities on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) class development [Vietnam]

The 2nd DRR class has been carried out at 7 DRR core schools in Danang city throughout April 2013. This time DRR classes much more invented & devised than the 1st one have been developed.
Lessons well-created with teacher’s originality impressed observes over and over. Some examples of student’s positive attitudes that showed qualified class will be introduced.

#1: As soon as ‘Earthquake’ lesson was finished, many students rushed to gather around an earthquake model and talked seriously, comparing housed with/without DRR prevention. They didn’t try to touch the model due to rare times of seeing it, but seemed to be very interested in it.

#2: After ‘Earthquake’ lesson, a student came to a teacher immediately to ask about earthquakes that had never experienced in Danang.

#3: During ‘Flood’ lesson, a student went to the flood model, and presented instead of the teacher on differences between a house with DRR prevention and another without prevention against flood, using the model.

The above-mentioned 1 & 2 showed independent and voluntary activities by student and the 3 came from teacher’s unique idea. Such positive activities by students will be also expected in remaining DRR classes.
