SEEDS Asia participated in ”Iza! Kaeru Caravan2015” 【Kobe】

SEEDS Asia participated in the event, “Iza! Kaeru Caravan 2015” in JICA Kansai and DRI, Kobe. Many enjoyable disaster risk reduction programs for parents and children were organized by 24 groups including SEEDS Asia. Since the objective of this event is to learn about disaster risk reduction by exchanging toys, visitors can get a ticket for exchanging toys as they participate in different programs. By collecting tickets, they exchanged toys or participated in an auction for toys. Many children donated their old toys for this event and chose other toys which were collected in the venue.
SEEDS Asia’s program “Earthquake! Is your house safe?” is the program which parents and children can learn about safety device for furniture and safe house by putting small model furniture into model house and make it shake as if an earthquake happened. Not only small children but also visitors for JICA Kansai from overseas enjoyed this program. It was impressive that some children told us “we will hide under the table or bed when an earthquake occurs!” or “ I’ve seen that my mom had attached quake-resistant sticker under TV.” Thanks to visitors and student volunteers, this event was successfully finished.
