Hyogo Prefectural Board of Education’s Visit [Philippines]
SEEDS Asia’s new project in the Philippines has started with the cooperation of Hyogo Prefectural Board of Education and Philippines Department of Education (DepEd) to promote Disaster Risk Reduction Education mainly in Cebu Province. Last December 11, we held our first meeting at DepEd Region VII Office (Cebu City) and welcomed 2 officials from Hyogo Prefectural Board of Education. On December 12, visitors from Hyogo went to Northern Cebu to visit schools in areas affected by Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) last November 2013.
Officials from DepEd division offices and DepEd Region VII office, and relevant Disaster Risk Reduction Management administrative institutions attended our first meeting on December 11.
Mr. Ikuta, a DRR education expert from Hyogo Prefectural Board of Education gave a presentation on Hyogo’s DRR education for almost 20 years after Kobe Earthquake in 1995.
Mr. Yntig, a DRR focal person at DepEd Region VII office gave a presentation on DepEd’s DRR education.
