Speaking at the DepEd National DRRM Planning Conference [Philippines]
SEEDS Asia was invited to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Planning Conference, which was organized by the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Service (DRRMS) of the Department of Education (DepEd). The conference was held in Quezon City, Metro Manila and was attended by over 700 DepEd personnel to discuss DRRMS’s plans and the funding utilization of DepEd Region and Division Offices.
On the third day of the conference, March 9, DepEd partner organizations were given the opportunity to provide brief presentations. SEEDS Asia shared information on our projects in the Philippines from 2014 to the present. We also had the chance to speak with DepEd personnel from various regions to learn about their current disaster risk reduction strategies and the challenges they face.
SEEDS Asia launched the project on “Strengthening and Promoting School-based Disaster Risk Reduction in Central Visayas, Philippines,” which was funded by JICA. We will continue supporting the development of resilient schools and communities in the Philippines.
