The DRR awareness videos are now live! [Bangladesh]
Fires, heavy rains and waterlogging, lightening, air pollution… the list of urban disaster risks faced by Dhaka is increasing and threatening the daily lives of its citizens. The city has also been hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to reduce the risks and build a resilient city, it is very important for each citizen to be aware of them and take action.
The DRR videos that were developed as a part of our project in Dhaka, were envisaged not only to increase awareness of Dhaka residents, but also to emphasize the importance of taking action to reduce the risks that they faced. The videos highlights the message that every small action counts! The video also encourages people to participate in the DRR action campaign by posting their actions on Facebook with the hashtag #durjogeamraa (meaning “we are the ones to fight disasters!” in Bengali).
The videos cover four themes – infectious diseases, air pollution, heavy rain, and fire. Each theme consists of three parts; 1) Identifying the disasters, 2) leaning from experts, and 3) sharing DRR actions.
