Disseminating information on how families can reduce disaster risk is a key objective of Bangladesh’s National Disaster Preparedness Day (10 March). Youth volunteers, who had attended DRR training by SEEDS Asia and BRAC University, visited houses in their residential area to raise awareness about disaster risk reduction. At each household they discussed fire prevention, firefighting, and household level disaster preparedness. The young ones looked a little nervous in the beginning since this was the first time they were conducting such an activity. But as the people welcomed them into their homes, they started to enjoy the visits and contribution they were making to the society.
