15 years ago 26th December, the 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami occurred. The earthquake followed by massive tsunamis caused disasters on a global scale, across regions or countries, depriving over 220,000 people of their precious lives. We strongly remember this disaster as a milestone that made us all aware of the importance of disaster risk reduction education and early warning.
For lives to be protected from a next disaster as they deserve – SEEDS Asia introduced and turned over disaster risk reduction education to a local organization in the process of the disaster recovery in Indonesia from the earthquake and tsunami. We truly wish all that remember this day a peaceful day.
