MTG with pilot school, Danao City Division [Philippines]

On November 17, 2017 – SEEDS Asia had a meeting which was hosted by Department of Education Danao City Division, with the nominated Pilot School, Beatriz D. Durano Memorial National High School (BDDMNHS), with its 12 Teachers who will be trained as the School DRRM Team. The meeting was graced by the Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Rosalie Pasaol, and attended by other key local partners such as the Barangay Councilor of Suba where BDDMNHS is located, Ms. Evelyn Francisco, and Danao City Local Government DRRM Office representative, Mr. Raymond Cascabel. Other attendees were the school heads and school Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) coordinators of the schools where SDRA (School Disaster Resilience Assessment) Survey was conducted namely Guinsay Elementary School and Guinacot Integrated School. Conducted in this meeting were Project briefing, presentation of roles, responsibilities and commitment needed from Project partners and stakeholders and the results of the SDRA Survey. In addition, the LGU DRRM Officer representative and Barangay Councilor briefly presented their respective DRRM plans, programs and projects which can be aligned in establishing a School DRRM Manual. After the presentations, the commitment support of the school head of BDDMNHS, Mr. Ramil Lavador, was expressed thereby confirming them to be the Pilot School for the Division. Danao City Division is one of the active partners of SEEDS Asia who is fully committed in supporting the Project to achieve school safety towards building a disaster resilient schools in Cebu Province.
