Training in the Philippines [Philippines]
SEEDS Asia also conducted training in Cebu Province from October 16th to 20th for five days for the School DRRM Instructing Team along with other representatives from the Department of Education Region 7 and Schools Division Offices.
The purpose is also to capacitate the School DRRM Instructing Team, and there were six sessions such as Introduction, Planning, Stakeholders’ engagement, Application exercises, Assessment, and Closing, totaling 30 trainings with exercises. SEEDS Asia was able to provide technical lectures thanks to guest speakers such as Officer-in-Charge for Philippines Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, City engineer, Fire Officer for Bureau of Fire Protection, DRR specialist from Manila City, Provincial Link for Department of Social Welfare and Development, Disaster Risk Reduction Officers from Cebu Province and from Talisay City. On the last day, participants took a completion exam to measure their accomplishment of the training.
A participant described as what he/she has learned during the training and how it will help him/her with his/her work, “In-depth understanding of the DRRM system and standards in School by the common goal that is life safety and resiliency.”
