Five years from Cyclone Nargis….[Myanmar]

Five years passed after the devastating Cyclone Nargis, which, in made significant impacts on people’s lives in coastal Myanmar, especially in Irrawaddy delta. Not only that, it also affected the socio-political situation of the country directly or indirectly. At this fifth year, we pray for the affected people who lost their loved ones. Also, we are thankful to all the people who supported Myanmar in different way. I personally learned a lot from the recovery process, and will look forward to work with our partners for a disaster resilient community in Myanmar.

SEEDS Asia is working at the grass root level with the schools and communities in the delta region. We are starting a new JICA project for next 2.5 years from this year focusing on community based disaster risk reduction. Thanks to the SEEDS Asia Myanmar team for all your hard work.

Kyoto University is looking forward to contribute to the higher education in disaster risk reduction in Myanmar.
